My name is Cory Hughes, and I am a geologist, planetary scientist, and research assistant. I contribute to research as a member of Melissa Rice’s research group. My research is focused on martian and terrestrial stratigraphy, surface processes, and mineralogy. I am passionately curious about what the rocks on other planets, as well as our own, can tell us about the deep history of our solar system.
When I am not smashing rocks with my rock hammer or staring at satellite images looking for little green men, I can usually be found falling over at the hockey rink, watching the Calgary Flames or the Houston Texans win, or playing Kerbal Space Program.
